No Excuses

I bought a laptop. A tiny 11.6″ one. That’s the smallest I could find, and it’s precisely what I was after. You see, I haven’t had a personal computer for around six years now. We’ve got a gaming laptop that I brought all the way from the US as a present for my husband, but it’s massive, heavy, and too clunky for me to use. It’s also getting old and the battery hardly holds the charge (in fact, I even ordered a new battery a few years ago because the previous one died). And, in all honesty, it wasn’t my laptop.

It’s amazing for gaming (that’s why I bought it for my hubby in the first place) and video editing which I need for my YouTube channel, but I found it too hard to use for writing my book and this blog, and frankly speaking, it is hardly ever free for me to use.

I wanted something mobile and easy. So today, out of the blue, I asked my husband whether I could buy myself a wee laptop, and he said “anything you want”. And just like that, I looked up the smallest size laptop the stores were selling and we went and got it.

I have just finished setting it up and I am thrilled to have my own work station. Now I don’t have any excuses not to continue my writing (apart from still having to care for an infant and operating on minimal sleep). I have my own laptop, and it’s light, portable and easy to grab and use whenever I have a spare moment.

You might be wondering how or why I lived without a computer for several years. I simply didn’t feel the need to have one. It’s easy to browse the internet, listen to music and edit photos on my phone. I only needed a laptop for writing. And, indeed, quite often that prevented me from doing so. But as I said, no excuses now.

And to prove it, I am writing this post, even though I have just published one yesterday and it may have been a better idea to space them out, but no. I want it to be timely. 2021 ended on a good note. Only two hours left until midnight. You might be reading this in the new year though, so Happy New Year, everybody! Thank you for reading this and for your kind words. And I promise to work hard(er) and share more news about my book in the new year. And, as always, I live you with a beautiful quote.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.
