Should I Start a Blog in 2020?

Does anyone even read blogs these days? And if they do, will anyone care what I have to say?

These are the questions that tormented me for a few weeks. But why the sudden urge to create a blog? Well, that’s an interesting story.

I have started writing a book. Just like that, one day I decided that it was time I wrote a fantasy novel. What for? Because I have a story that I find very exciting and promising, and I want to put it on paper and see where it takes me.

I love reading, especially fantasy and science fiction genres. They give me a thrilling escape from reality, tickle my imagination with the good old ‘what if‘ question, that Jules Verne, the father of science fiction, was constantly asking in his series of bestselling adventure novels about amazing journeys.

I love being creative. I can’t stop. I’ve done now a YouTube channel, an Instagram blog, a Bookstagram, I played in a band, painted with oil, drew comics, composed poems, short stories and songs, and I don’t think the list will ever stop. Everything has always been for fun, because creativity gives me energy, makes me happy.

The next somewhat natural step is to achieve this massive milestone of writing a book. I know it’s hard, I know it’s nearly impossible to have it published, and is equally impossible to promote it via self-publishing. But it doesn’t matter. This story, my story, has to be told. I can no longer keep it within me, it needs to be shared with the world.

And this is the answer to why I spent so much time setting up this website to start a blog. I want to take you on a journey with me. There are too many emotions, too many ideas sitting in my head that I have no outlet for, as none of my current social media platforms are the right place for them. Hence, this blog, this website had to be born.

I will share with you my book writing progress and give sneak peeks as much as I can, but this website will be so much more. This is where I will be pouring down my soul, and I hope you will be here for me, with me.

So, if you were wondering, like I did, should you start a blog in 2020, my answer is absolute unequivocal ‘yes‘. Art is never about what other people need, it’s about what you want to give them. And if you do what you love, what makes you happy, somehow, somewhere you will make someone happy too.

The scariest moment is always just before you start.
